Cathy Stonehill began her career by starting a video company in Tucson in 1981. Within two years, Omnivideo had grown into the largest privately-owned video facility in southern Arizona, specializing in local commercials, multi-camera productions, and corporate videos.

In 1989, seeking wider experience in high-end visual effects, Stonehill relocated to San Francisco which had become a hotbed of creative graphics and effects work. Stonehill worked as Special Effects Coordinator for One Pass, a state-of-the-art effects post house that later became Editel/S.F. While at Editel, she met Phoenix Edit, Effects & Design principals-to-be Lisa Hinman, Bob Frisk, and John Crossley.

Stonehill left Editel in 1991 to work as a freelance effects producer and post-production supervisor in the Bay Area. In 1996 she reconnected with her Editel colleagues and joined Phoenix as a producer and technical coordinator. She now serves as Phoenix’s Technical Director.
