bobby vandyke - motion graphics & visual effects artist

As in-house motion graphics designer, Bobby VanDyke lends his artistic eye and technical wizardry to Phoenix’s design and effects team. A former graphics assistant under the guidance of Phoenix effects and design director Matt Silverman, VanDyke has worked on a variety of projects, including campaigns for Mondavi, McDonald’s, U.S. Maritime Administration, Palm, YMCA, Mervyn’s, Yahoo!, Clorox and Autodesk, and film titles for the Amanda Micheli-directed indie documentary, “Double Dare.”

VanDyke admits he was always the “kid in class who could draw.” Fascinated by animation and special effects, he used his father’s VHS camera to experiment with claymation and stop-motion animation and, much to his father’s chagrin, developed a penchant for “filming stuff burning.” His youthful interest in do-it-yourself special effects developed into an adult love of 2D and 3D computer graphics and motion graphics design.

Prior to joining Phoenix in 2002, VanDyke was a graphic artist at California State University in Sacramento, where he graduated with honors in 2001 with a B.S. in Graphic Design.
